Just a few Changes on The Glamorous Gleam…

"MAC Matchmaster Foundation 8.0"

First of all I would like to thank all of you guys for your continued support over the years. As The Glamorous Gleam approaches it’s 5 Year Anniversary I will be making a few changes that I feel are necessary for continued growth. No worries, there won’t be anything too drastic. I just feel that I’ve been losing sight of what I want the site to become and therefore need to get a bit more focused in order to get where I want to be. So here goes…

Reviews. It has been review overload around here lately as I had a lot of stuff to clear off of my desk, but quite frankly I am reviewed out. I get so excited about new products and just want to share everything but reviews can sometimes be a bit boring. I don’t want The Glamorous Gleam to be just another review site. Therefore, I will be slowing down with the individual reviews. I will continue to review new products that I think you guys will be interested in and items that I find to be must haves for the brown skinned beauties, other than that I am going to try a monthly favorites series. Every month I will share my current favorite products including new purchases and old favorites that I’ve never shared along with mini reviews. I used to do this in the past and moved away for no particular reason, but I’d like to revisit this in an attempt to share more products with you guys without the long and drawn out reviews.

Makeup Looks and Tutorials. I plan to post makeup looks more often, including tutorials. Sometimes I don’t post my looks as I feel it’s too simple or boring but I have to remember that these looks are perfect for the everyday woman. I also would like to do more posts on techniques such as filling in brows, highlighting & contouring, eyelash application and such for those who are beginners or just want to brush up on their skills. Not saying that I am an expert but I can share my techniques to try and help you guys out with developing your own. I would also like to share more hair tutorials. In doing this I need to incorporate more videos since it’s easier to learn and replicate stuff when you see it firsthand. I completely neglect my YouTube channel as my editing software sucks and drives me crazy, but I’m going to really work on posting regularly. Please bear with me.

Fashion. Fashion holds just as big a place in my heart as beauty and I’ve totally been neglecting it. I haven’t been posting outfits lately as it’s been so cold here that I barely want to get dressed and go out. I’ve been keeping it very simple and warm, however I will be getting back to posting outfits regularly soon with Spring just around the corner. I also plan to start posting more outfit inspiration, fashion trends and more fashion related content in general.

Lifestyle. I plan to share more recipes with you guys as I’m always in the kitchen and love to cook. I also love to go out and eat and try new restaurants so I’ll try to incorporate that more. As well as travel, fitness and life in general. Sometimes we get so caught up in the day to day with planning and scheduling that we forget to just live and have fun. I plan to start living more, being a bit more spontaneous and just enjoying life… and I’ll share whatever I see fit along the way.

That’s all folks. If you guys have anything that you would like to see more of on The Glamorous Gleam feel free to share it in the comments. I love hearing from my readers!

  1. Whew! Glad this change isn’t that you’re no longer blogging! I’d be crushed, devastated, overly-dramatic and such. Lol. Any who, bring on the changes. I’ll miss the reviews because I look to your blog to know what new makeup products to try as a brown beauty. But that won’t stop me from visiting this site All The Time. Haha!

    • Lol. Thank you so much for the continued support. I will not stop doing reviews completely but you’ll actually see more reviews for products geared toward the brown skinned beauties. I just want to be more selective.

    • Lol, glad to see I’m not the only one whose heart stopped when I read the word “changes”, cuz I immediately thought you were going to sign off for good! Thank goodness it isn’t to be! I’m excited about the new changes, particularly that you’ll be reducing the number of reviews you post. To be honest, I also find blogs with mostly reviews boring. I’m a makeup junkie so I always like reading about new products but I also like blogs featuring tutorials tutorials, FOTDs and fashion and lifestyle stuff. I think the balanced approach to blogging you plan to adopt is a great idea!

  2. I think these are good changes, especially the make-up looks/tutorials, recipes and workouts ;). Good luck and keep up the good work.

    • Makeup looks is a big part of the site…it’s what inspired me to get started so I definitely want to get back on track in that area 🙂

  3. LOL. I thought you were trying to quit too!! I look forward to the new stuff. I am glad the reviews aren’t going away completely though.

  4. Excited about these changes, it’s always good to mix it up, I think as bloggers we sometimes get caught up believing we must only post about certain things, we forget that our blogs are a space to share what we want when we want!

Looking forward to seeing the changes take place! 🙂

  5. My heart skipped a beat. Whew, I can breathe again. I like the changes. I really like your reviews though. I get solid information regarding products for my /our skin tone. Believe me when I tell you that this information is not readily available for people of my/our complexion.

    • Trust me I know, that’s why I will be focusing my efforts more on us. Although I will be slowing down on reviews I would like the make the actual reviews that I do post count, something I feel that I did in the past.

  6. All of this sounds amazing. Been following you since I saw you featured on FBD for the fashion and was pleasantly surprised to find beauty and also that yummy food you cook. No matter what changes you make I will always be a loyal reader. I love your style. Also, I am not good at makeup but you have definitely helped me a lot with makeup tips for brown skin. I can’t wait to see tutorials on lashes I have never applied a pair lollll

  7. I came across your blog while looking for swatches of Ellis Faas Soft Bronze blusher, and I’m really enjoying your posts! Care to share what lipcolor are you wearing in this pic?
