MAC’s Heroine Lipstick has been one of the most sort after shades, at least in my history of being a MAC fan. It has been released twice already, in the Reel Sexy Collection and in the Fashion Sets, I missed it both times. At first I shrugged my shoulders and thought oh well but the more swatches and FOTDs that I saw, the more that I wanted this lipstick. So when I heard that Heroine was being released again and this time as a permanent shade, I thanked the lipstick gawds and ordered it as soon it went up.
Heroine is a bright matte purple. Although matte, the formula doesn’t seem to be as drying as your typical matte lipstick. As with any matte lipstick exfoliation is key. For the best look and wear, exfoliate your lips and lightly apply a moisturizing lip balm before applying the lipstick. It wears for hours without fading or needing to be reapplied, even through a light meal. No lip liner needed.
I am so glad to finally be able to add this shade to my collection and not have to worry about buying backups so that I never run out. I opened the box and couldn’t wait to go home and photograph it so I put it on immediately and therefore haven’t been able to compare it to other purples in my collection.
I will update this post if I happen to have any dupes. Milani Color Statement Matte Lipstick in Glam is a dupe.
Heroine is available online at maccosmetics.com as of December 16th and will be coming to stores in January. MAC lipsticks retail at $15.
Do you have MAC Heroine? Know of any dupes?
