Here is a closer look at some of the brushes…

Ricky's Paintbrush 21 Filbert Eyeshadow Brush

21 Filbert Eyeshadow Brush $8

Ricky's Paintbrush 32 Fan Foundation Brush

Ricky's Paintbrush 35 Large Duo-Fibre Brush

35 Large Duo-Fibre Brush $14

Ricky's Paintbrush 36 Large Powder Brush

36 Large Powder Brush $16

Ricky's Paintbrush 37 Round Powder Brush

37 Round Powder Brush $24

The brushes appear to be well made and pretty sturdy, and I must admit that they are super cute. But the only ones out of this set to really catch my attention was the Eyeshadow Crease Brush which has dense but not too firm bristles which would work well for blending the crease and the Duo-Fibre Foundation Brush which seems like it would be great for creating an airbrushed look. Some of the others were too soft, too large or too overpriced.

Speaking of price, Ricky’s Paintbrush range form $8-$30 (which is on the expensive side.) If you’re not located in NYC and wish to purchase these brushes they are also available online at rickysnyc.com.

Great post. A wonderful makeup artist/ and youtuber “enkoremakeup”, did a YT video, back in 2007 about using paintbrushes as cheaper dupe over expensive makeup brushes.

After that I rarely brought MAC or other expensive makeup brushes again. The quality and durability of paintbrushes is so much better, IMO. The cost and versatility are also unrivaled.

Thanks for the info, I’ve heard this too. Last time I visited my mom I was checking out the paintbrushes in Walmart but all of the sizes that can be used for makeup were gone. Everyone must know the secret lol. I’m going to have to check out Michaels.
