I’ve been waiting super patiently for the Prabal Gurung For Target Collection to hit the shelves today. I was up until 1 am hoping it would launch online early with no such luck. When I awoke at 7:30 am the collection was up online but I decided to go on ahead and check it out in-store since I was going to be in the vicinity of a Target, and I am glad that I did. My silly self didn’t realize that Target opens at 8:30 am on Sunday so I was already late to the party *insert eye roll here* The only thing that I really wanted was the shirt dress and it was nowhere in sight and at this point sold out online as well. The Floral Crush Blazer, Date Night Sweatshirt & Floral Crush Dress (besides size 16) were also nowhere to be found. I decided to browse around anyway.
A few things caught my eye so I decided to try them on.
First let me say that the sizing is very wishy washy. The tops seem to be cut small (think Forever 21) and the dresses and skirts slightly big. The tees were slightly large in the body but just right in the sleeves. First up, the Peplum Top in Floral Crush ($29.99)…
I wanted to love it but it was a no go. It is extremely too short for my taste. For reference I am 5’5″. This is a size 8, the size 10 was still very short just a tad bit wider.
The Ruffle Front Blouse ($34.99, M) was cute but very tight across the chest. I have a small bust with broad shoulders and I just wasn’t feeling the look. I didn’t love it enough to size up.
The Nolita Tee ($19.99, M) is very lightweight and soft. This is a medium. I could have gone with a small but I have long arms so the sleeves would then be too short. I almost got this but put it back because it seemed like it would catch lint once washed.
The Floral Crush Tee ($19.99, M) gave me the same feeling as the Nolita tee. It also felt very pajama-ish to me.
The Lace Front Blouse ($34.99, M) was also very tight across the chest. I was digging it and was going to size up but the collar threw me off. It appears to be faux leather but it was just too shiny and fake looking compared to the matte fabric of the blouse. I passed.
The Pleated Skirt in Nolita Print ($29.99) fit pretty well in an 8 but was slightly big in the waist. I didn’t care for the lace on the bottom, it felt grannyish.
The Date Night Print Drop Waist Dress ($34.99, S) did absolutely nothing for me. I have a small waist with wide hips and a plump bottom lol. This was very ill fitting. It is also very thin. I did not like this piece at all.
The Date Night Blouse ($26.99, L) was also very cute but I wasn’t interested in it. I could have went with a medium if I were. Moving onto the shoes, the only ones that were in stock at my Target were the Nolita Pumps, Lace Up Sandal in Black, Red Wedge and Meet The Parents Print Sandal. All of the shoes were true to size…
The Nolita Print pumps are awesome and super comfortable.
The Lace Up Sandal was also cute but my little toe kept slipping through the side and within five minutes the straps were cutting into my foot and leaving an imprint. Very uncomfortable.
The wedges were very cute and comfortable but they just were not my style. I wanted the Sulfur Spring (neon yellow) Ankle Strap Pump but of course they weren’t there. I didn’t see any of the accessories. The Prabal Gurung for Target Collection lived up to the hype with some great pieces but unfortunately a lot of it just didn’t work for me fit and fabric wise. I ended up walking away with just the Nolita Print Pumps and I am content with them.
