Revlon ColorBurst Lipgloss, Papaya: Swatches & Review

I stopped by Rite Aid on my way home from work and saw that all Revlon Cosmetics were on sale for 40% off *hint* ;) Ive been dying to try the ColorBurst Lipgloss, so I scanned the collection for the one I liked the best. It was Papaya.

The Revlon ColorBurst lipgloss comes in a sleek tube with a quilted top just like that of the ColorBurst lipstick. The tube is very pretty for that of a drugstore lipgloss and falls right in line with the packaging of higher end brands.

"Revlon Colorburst Lipgloss Papaya"

Papaya is a light pink toned coral with fine pink micro-glitter reflects. It could not have had a better name. It is also perfect for this season’s coral makeup trend. Can you tell how much I am in love with the coral trend? I’ve been talking about it for days lol.

The lipgloss is smooth in consistency, not sticky at all, with slight opacity. The swatches (hand & lip) took about 3 layers to achieve the color shown. It has a slight vanilla scent and no taste that I can detect. The color stayed true for a good two hours without eating or drinking.

Overall, I really like the Revlon Colorburst Lipgloss. It is not sticky, did not dry out my lips or leave gunk and it stayed put for a long while. However, I would not run out and grab the rest of the shades off of the shelf because quite frankly, it is a pretty ordinary lipgloss. With a name like ColorBurst, I was expecting it to be a little more opaque without having to layer. If you don’t build it up it is very sheer. It would look awesome over a lipstick of a similar shade though.

Revlon ColorBurst Lipgloss retails at $7.49 a tube and can be found in your local drugstore such as Target, Walmart, Rite Aid, Duane Reade etc. I would suggest catching it on sale. With the 40% off I paid $4.49. Now that’s more like it.

I just love how it matches my nail polish :)

On a side note, since it was on sale I also picked up the Revlon PhotoReady Foundation in 012 Mocha. Last Spring I had been using the PhotoReady in 011 Cappuccino and loved it, but after a while I found it to be a little too light for my complexion. I fell so in love with my Revlon ColorStay that I just tossed the PhotoReady aside. However, as it gets warmer the ColorStay will be too heavy for me and I will need something lighter, so I figured I would try a darker shade of the PhotoReady to mix with Cappuccino and see if it would be more wearable. Jackpot! Together one part Cappuccino and one part Mocha is the perfect match for my NW45 skin, I am wearing it in the photo. So happy!  ***I only have to do this in the warmer months when I am tanned, otherwise Cappuccino works well, especially in the Winter.***

Anyway, have you guys tried the Revlon Colorburst Lipgloss? If so, what is your favorite shade?

*I’ve since found that Revlon ColorStay holds up better in the heat as it does not slide off or budge at all. Lasts all day in extreme heat and humidity.
