MAC In The Groove Collection Swatches, Review & Haul

The MAC In The Groove Collection launched today in the U.S. I know a lot of you have been waiting for this collection so here goes. For reference I am MAC NW45.

Mineralize Eyeshadow Trios

"Togetherness MES"

Togetherness applied smooth and is very pigmented with one swatch. My favorite trio of the bunch.

"Style Influencer MES"

Style Influencer also applied smooth and was very pigmented. The middle shade reminds me a little of Blue Flame MES from Style Black. My second favorite of the bunch.

In The Groove is a neutral trio. Applied smooth with decent pigmentation. The middle shade reminds me of Chocolate Brown pigment. The third shade reminds me of Naked Lunch. I would think that the namesake of the collection would be more unique.

Making It Easy is a neutral trio. Basic for an everyday eye. I don’t have much to say about this one other than that.

Blue My Mind is my third fave of the bunch. The pigmentation is decent with a few swatches and the colors are gorgeous, they work well together.

Fresh & Easy is pretty however not my cup of tea. I don’t really see myself wearing these shades together. I like the middle shade but it can be easily duped if you use MAC Cranberry e/s with a light hand.

Soften the Mood in my opinion is the least pigmented out of the bunch. The left shade is ultra chalky and the shades look too similar on my skin tone. Least favorite out the bunch. Nothing special…. at all.

Please excuse my typo, it should read “Calm, Cool, Collected” is very pretty but also pretty sheer. It took a few swatches to get good pigmentation but I believe it would be gorgeous wet. Especially the shade on the right. NYX Jungle Fever e/s may work as a dupe for the shade on the right.

Love to Love is gorgeous but extremely dupable. The left shade can be duped with Shroom, the middle Amber Lights and the right shade Mulch. It also is similar to the Stila e/s trio in Bronze Glow. This trio applied smooth with great pigmentation.

Overall I really like the Mineralize Eyeshadow Trios. It seems as if MAC stepped their game up with these as they have more pigmentation and seem like they would have less fallout. I’ll have to test them out first before I come to a conclusion. Togetherness and Style Influencer are must haves for the brown skin  beauties as they are super pigmented and show up well. If your budget allows for one more, add Blue My Mind.

Mineralize Skinfinishes

Comfort would work well as a bronzer to give a natural glow without being too orangey.

Petticoat is a sheer raspberry with bronze shimmer but if applied too heavily (like above) it will not be pretty. It is super shimmery. Since it is pigmented it can be used as a blush.

"MAC Stereo Rose MSF"

Stereo Rose and By Candlelight are both very Pretty and will work well as highlighters, but for NW45 and deeper I would say Stereo Rose will work better to give a more natural glow.

Stereo Rose is very sought after and was just about sold out at my MAC counter. I got the next to last one ;)

Mineralize Blush Duos

A Little Bit of Sunshine would work well as a bronzer however the left side is a bit too orange and shimmery for my taste.

Happy Together would work well as a highlighter for the brown skin beauties. If you are lighter, this may also work as a bronzer.

Hang Loose doesn’t work well on my skin tone. Maybe for NC45 and lighter. If you have a darker complexion this will make you look washed out.

The raspberry pink in New Vibe is gorgeous, however I am not feeling the copper/bronze shade for the cheeks. It is way too shimmery. It reminds of what the Bronze Body Oil from To the Beach would look like if made into a blush. Pretty for all over the body but not concentrated on the cheeks. However, it may work as an eyeshadow. The Copper side can be duped with NYX powder blush in Copper.

Band of Roses is the Gem of the Bunch. Both sides are  gorgeous used alone or blended. It is very pigmented so in order to avoid clown face you must use a light hand. You may be able to dupe this with NYX Desert Rose powder blush.

Cremesheen Lipsticks

Gor For It is a gorgeous purple. Almost a dupe for Up the Amp but more purple and less pink. I Like It Like That is a cool toned pink that is very similar to Viva Glam Gaga. Just like Viva Glam Gaga, I think a gloss will be needed to make this work for the brown skin beauties. If you notice Myth is shown in the photo. Myth is not a part of the collection but after swatching I noticed that Myth was in the spot of what should have been Creme d’Nude. I am glad that I caught the error. The rest of the lipsticks were MIA when I was swatching.

There has been a lot of purple lippies coming out in the recent collections. If you have missed out on these and want a purple lippie, snatch up Go For It.

So what did I pick up?

Stereo Rose Mineralize Skinfinish

Band of Roses Mineralize Blush Duo

Togetherness and Style Influencer Mineralize Eyeshadow Trios

Go For It Cremesheen lipstick

Me wearing Go For It (makeup at the end of a hot, humid day ewww lol). This looks like it will look really good with Togetherness MES Trio, we shall see!
