Review: Queen Helene The Original Mint Julep Masque

Summer is rapidly approaching and New York City Summers are the worse. With the extreme heat and humidity to match, I am constantly sweaty and sticky, and my face feels like a dirt magnet.  I always end up with clogged pores and blackheads. No bueno. When I get like this and need  a thorough cleansing, Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque comes to the rescue!

The claim: Helps dry up pimples, rinse away blackheads and shrink enlarged pores.

I have been using this mask since high school and absolutely love it. It never fails me. Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque is a Kaolin clay mask, mint green in color with a strong mint fragrance.  After cleansing your face with your normal cleanser, you apply this mask all over your face and neck. You will feel a tingling sensation upon application, this is normal. Just think of it as the mask doing it’s job. Let it dry for about 15 minutes or until the mask hardens, and then gently remove it with a washcloth and warm water.

Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque  does exactly what it claims. After I remove the mask my skin feels squeaky clean and rejuvenated. When I wake up the next day any blemishes that I had are gone and even full blown pimples are almost completely gone. I even use this mask as a spot treatment and it works wonders. Dries out pimples over night! Warning: If you have extemely dry skin this mask may be a little too drying and you will need to follow it with a light moisturizer. This mask is very inexpensive and costs about $3.99 USD for 8 ounces.

Pros:

  • does what it claims
  • easy to use
  • inexpensive

Cons

  • Can be drying

Bottom line, the Queen Helene Original Mint Julep Masque is a staple in my skincare arsenal. I’m never without it and get nervous when I am running low. If you are looking for a good, make that a great facial mask and don’t want to spend a fortune, try this out. For the price you have nothing to lose.
