Winter totally takes a toll on me. Not only does the blistering winds and frigid temperatures cause me to be a bit down in the dumps longing for Spring, but it does some serious damage to my hair, skin and nails. My hair and nails become very dry and brittle… and my skin, especially my face gets very dry and flaky. In order to keep the dry patches under control, I have to exfoliate well and use a very good moisturizer. Finding a moisturizer for the winter months that can keep the dryness under control without making my face look like an oil slick has become cumbersome. So when Skin MD Natural contacted me to review their Shielding Lotion, I did my research and quickly agreed.

My Experience…
I have been using this lotion for about a month now and the first thing that I must say is that I love the texture. It is very thin and lightweight. Not greasy at all. Since I planned to use this lotion mainly for my face, this came as a big plus. A dime sized amount covers my entire face and the lotion absorbs quickly. Although I have already been using my bottle for a month, I still have at least 3/4 bottle left.
I have been using this lotion twice a day on my face, once in the morning and again at night. I have to admit that during my first few days of using the lotion, I was a bit skeptical. The lotion absorbed well overall, but I had to go back and apply extra to my dry patches as they were still a bit dry. After the first week I no longer had to do this. My dry patches had pretty much diminished. My face now feels very smooth. I owe this improvement to the Skin MD Natural Shielding lotion along with very good exfoliation.
My makeup also applies smoother and looks more flawless, even without the use of a primer. Every artist needs a good canvas to work with, and the same applies to our face. When your skin is in great condition it will show in your makeup application. When you have dry patches and such this will be visible under your makeup. That is why it is extremely important to use a very good moisturizer (and exfoliate.) Overall, I am very impressed with this product. However, I am not sure if I will purchase when I run out due to the hefty price tag.
