Polish Pick: Zoya Matte Velvet Winter ’09 Collection Savita

"Zoya Savita"

1 coat of China Glaze Strong Adhesion Base Coat
2 coats of Zoya Savita

So after patiently waiting for weeks I finally received Savita.   I ordered this shade during the pre-sale back in the beginning of September and it was supposed to ship 9/18. However, there were some kinks that Zoya needed to work out with the shade formulation, so I just received it last week.  I ordered Savita along with Loredana, a shade from the Fall Matte Velvet Collection.  This is my first experience with Matte polish as I wasn’t a big fan of this trend at first… but after seeing so many swatches it grew on me and I decided to jump on the bandwagon.

Anyway on to the polish.  I absolutely LOVE this shade! I would describe it as a shimmering, royal purple/plum matte.  In case you are unsure of what matte polish is, it is polish that has a flat or non-glossy finish. Matte polish is intended to be used without a base coat, however I used one anyway as I am paranoid of having my nails stained. Now about the formula. I absolutely HATE it! You have to work really fast as the formula is extremely fast drying which can cause streaks and lumps.  Since you have to work so fast, it is easy to make a mess.  You have to be very patient during application. Although I hate the formula, I still love the shade and I am feeling the matte finish. So it’s a keeper.

When I’m not hunting down the latest and greatest beauty products, beating a face or lacing a do, you can find me roaming the streets of NYC in my stilettos looking for the next best restaurant. Or in the kitchen trying to outdo myself from the last time.
